Beach

A special moment to be repeated.

“Beach”—Memories of sandy toes, sun-warmed stones, water, and the calm, restful peace that comes with it.

One particular warm and sunny day came to mind as this piece took form. My son, a teen at the time, and I decided it was time for the beach. We have a favourite spot—Charles Daley Park along Lake Ontario in the Town of Lincoln. There’s a shallow spot there, near trees, where it often seems few people go.

We decided that day to put our chairs right in the water, dunk our feet, and poke at rocks. The universe came up in conversation.

It. Was. Heaven. As it always is.

Too many like me work too much. I hear that folks in Europe have a much healthier life-work balance. I’ve gotta go there! In the meantime, this is a treasured memory and a reminder to do it way more often!

On the original, there is a spot covered with 24K gold leaf. The gold is a symbol for how valuable moments like these are.
