'Acid Trip'—Let your mind go!
I’ve never experienced acid (LSD: lysergic acid diethylamide). I think I feared what my naturally very creative brain would do with it. I mean, yikes! This painting feels like a mental meander to me—just without the technicolors I imagine acid can produce.
Now that I’ve had Acid Trip hanging near me, it has become a reminder to make time to let my mind go. To sit and simply allow my mind to go where it wants—be open for ideas to float in and be considered from different angles. Or to follow a path that goes…beyond what I can imagine otherwise. I’ve experienced a LOT of personal struggles, upheaval, and anguish over the years. At the beginning of 2025, that’s where I was, plopped on my couch in my basement art studio, just staring at nothing and everything, and…thinking. I did this for days!
I was staring at my paint supplies, too, which is likely why I found myself painting while my mind went on its adventure. Really, is it any wonder that Acid Trip came to my mind for this artwork?
