“Beach” is my ode to sandy toes, sun-warmed stones, and the calm, restful peace that comes with it.
One warm and sunny day, my teen-at-the-time son and I decided it was time for a beach run. We have a favourite spot—Charles Daley Park along Lake Ontario in the Town of Lincoln. There’s a shallow spot near trees where it often seems quiet.
We decided that day to put our chairs right in the water and just… chill. We poked at stones. Half-heartedly “skipped” stones… the universe came up, I’m sure.
It. Was. Heaven.
As I painted this piece and a sandy beach appeared, as I saw it, I was reminded of that moment. I then added a touch of 24K gold leaf. A symbol for taking a moment and savouring it.
