It took a while for Made with Coffee to become what it is now. I started with the graphic black lines, playing with the cityscape I saw in it. I really love rustic, industrial themes, and I felt like that’s where this painting was going.
It had the browns, blues, and whites that I love about it now, but there was no personality. It nagged me—whispering, “I’m not done!”—for months.
And then I had my time of self-discovery in the beginning of 2025; I became a mad scientist. I had dabbled a bit before, but this—THIS was an experience! As many other artists have, I started by raiding my kitchen. Perplexed and annoyed, “Hey, where’s the _______?!” soon had me getting my own supplies to save my marriage.
Coffee was one of the first I played with, and immediately I knew it was the ticket for the moodier look and feel I wanted for this painting.
